Your generosity means so much to me and to the bright, resilient, and eager multilingual learners I have the privilege of teaching every day. Your support is helping provide resources that our students can use throughout the school year to learn, collaborate, and build confidence in mathematics.\r\n\r\nI teach in a Dual Language Program where many of our students come from homes where Spanish is the primary language. Our program gives students the opportunity to develop their academic skills and literacy in both English and Spanish while also celebrating the language and culture that are such an important part of their lives. I am incredibly proud of our students and the effort they put into learning every day. They come to school ready to participate, ask questions, solve problems, and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nOur school serves an under-resourced community where many families face economic challenges. Although families work hard and deeply value their children's education, having access to all of the supplies and learning tools students need is not always easy. Because of this, classroom donations can make a meaningful difference. The supplies you have helped provide allow us to create a classroom where students have the resources they need without having to worry about whether they have the materials necessary to participate.\r\n\r\nOne of the most valuable resources in our math classroom is access to scientific calculators. Our students work on multi-step problems and explore mathematical concepts that require them to use different strategies and tools. Having enough calculators means that students can work independently and with their classmates without having to wait for another student to finish using one. It also allows us to spend more time focusing on mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and understanding concepts.\r\n\r\nWhiteboard supplies are also an important part of our classroom. Our students frequently work together to solve problems, show their thinking, explain their strategies, and learn from one another. Dry erase markers and erasers may seem like small supplies, but they are used regularly throughout our lessons. Students can quickly try a strategy, make a mistake, erase it, and try again. This encourages them to see mistakes as part of the learning process rather than something to be afraid of.\r\n\r\nOther supplies, including pencils, pens, and stylus tools, help students complete assignments and interact with technology during lessons. Having these basic materials available helps remove small barriers that can otherwise make it more difficult for students to stay engaged and focused.\r\n\r\nCleaning supplies such as disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer are also important in our classroom. Since students work closely together and frequently share materials, keeping our classroom clean and healthy helps create a comfortable learning environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your donation sends a message to our students that their education matters and that people are willing to invest in their success. I hope our students recognize that there is a community of people who believe in them and want to see them succeed. Your generosity helps us provide a classroom where students can learn, collaborate, take risks, and grow as mathematicians while continuing to develop their skills in both English and Spanish.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our students and our Dual Language Program. When they saw all the new items in my office, they felt more comfortable being here.\r\n\r\nThe next step in this project is to continue showing care and support for students. Because of your generosity, our students now have the tools they need to grow both mathematically and academically in two languages.\r\n\r\nThe Giant Magnetic Graph & Array Charts from Lakeshore Learning have been especially impactful. In 7th grade math, students work on ratios and proportional relationships, integer operations (including adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers), solving multi-step equations and inequalities, percent problems, probability, and analyzing data on coordinate planes. With the magnetic graphs and arrays, students can physically model proportional relationships, build and break apart arrays to understand expressions, plot points, compare quantities, and visually represent real-world math situations. Being able to manipulate and see math concepts makes a huge difference especially in a Dual Language classroom where visuals help reinforce academic vocabulary in both languages.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase markers, erasers, chart paper, graph sticky notes, rulers, and pencils allow students to practice daily problem-solving, show their thinking, and collaborate at the board. The labeling tape helps us stay organized, and even the broom and dustpan help us maintain a clean and welcoming learning space.\r\n\r\nThe snacks and small incentives have also been meaningful. In middle school, students appreciate recognition and care. Having snack options and small rewards has helped us build community, celebrate growth, and keep students motivated during challenging math tasks.\r\n\r\nYour donation has supported not just supplies, but engagement, confidence, and opportunity for our 7th graders. Our students were excited to learn that someone believes in their education.\r\n\r\nThank you for making an impact in our Dual Language classroom.
