Towards election day, we read an article about how our country can vote. We've also read about pumpkin racing near Halloween and about poisonous plants! The students are always very engaged!\r\n\r\nThis material gives teachers all they need to provide an exciting learning moment all the while staying aligned to the standards that we need to cover. Especially since I am a split classroom (twenty 2nd graders and nine 3rd graders), it's made it easier to tackle more standards. Scholastic also provides worksheets that focus on a variety of skills. My students enjoy making the monthly calendars as well as the word work pages.\r\n\r\nWe greatly appreciate your donation. I love to use books to teach. It helps to bring subjects to life and can help to explain ideas in kid friendly language. This group of third graders love to be read to and look at picture books. \r\nIn science we are learning about habitats. I read and we discussed a book about wetlands. The students then created their own wetland scene with construction paper. Reading the book first presented a better understanding of what a wetland is/contains. After the book, the students were very excited and motivated to creat their own scenes. \r\nThis is a perfect example of why I love to use picture boos to teach.
