Over the last few months we have identified a handful of students who have had loved ones die in various circumstances. Needless to say, this can be extremely difficult for families, and especially elementary school aged children. As the school counselor, it's my responsibility and privilege to help all of our students as they navigate different emotions and life circumstances that impact they're ability to learn, socialize, develop a healthy self-image, or are otherwise detrimental to their well-being.\r\n\r\nOne of the ways I do this is through running small groups for students who are facing similar challenges. Because of your generous donation, I have been able to acquire several books that help children process grief, specifically when losing a loved one. These books have been very beneficial in facilitating a time to learn about grief, helps students open up, and process these difficult and confusing emotions and circumstances.
