The kids are loving their daily dive into the Wizard of world each afternoon. Read aloud happens in the classroom during a snack time. It's a nice break from instruction to refuel students' minds and bodies before they each go to their prospective reading groups. \r\n\r\nIn reading groups, students are divided up into much smaller groups to bolster the skills they need to become literate. The read aloud right before gives each reader another reason to try their best on the reading skills they are working on. It's a joy to see how drawn into the story each kid is and how much they want to know what happens next in the story!\r\n\r\nWithout your generous gift, each student would be less connected to the literacy aspect of read aloud. Our entire 3rd grade pod loved discovering Wiley's style of artistic expression by devouring the images in the books you helped source for our students. Each student researched what flowers represent their identities with their families. Students are so proud of their identity portraits. \r\n\r\nIn a Title 1 school with the majority of our students effected by trauma at early ages, behavior communication often looks like everything ripped off the walls and bulletin boards. This is a daily behavior communication event. But these portraits have been left hanging on the walls for more than a month! That speaks volumes at our school!
