Although the donations will only serve one student at a time, they will last for years to come! \r\n\r\nYour donations allowed for student E.H. to play on a brand new clarinet as a 6th grader! She is so excited that she not only gets an instrument to play, but that she's the first one to play it. She knows that she must care for it well as it will be in rotation for at least 10-15 years. \r\n\r\nAnother student, K.L. gets to play on a brand new flute as a 6th grader. Her family was worried about the cost of an instrument and were overjoyed that not only did we have a school instrument for her to use, but it was also brand new! \r\n\r\nStudent S.H. is getting to play on a brand new bass clarinet. The bass clarinets that were retired were over 30 years old and had cracked down the middle multiple times. They played their final notes last concert cycle. S. is excited to get to challenge herself on bass clarinet, something she has been wanting to do for about a year now. \r\n\r\nA couple of my 8th grade students got to upgrade mouthpieces! While I would LOVE to have intermediate clarinets, the cost would be astronomical to own a couple for our program. A nice mouthpiece will allow them to really hone their sound.\r\n\r\nAgain, these instruments allows for students to access the arts, something that is oh so needed. Our students have had so much fun developing their personal hygiene skills this year. It's been truly amazing to see them grow and take pride in these important ways. They giggle and love making faces with one another as they apply deodorant, brush and comb their hair, wash their faces, trim and clean their fingernails and brush their teeth. Our staff join in the fun, too! \r\n\r\nWe are so fresh and so clean and these fortunate kiddos are becoming more and more independent...just what they need and deserve. They are capable of so much and more. \r\n\r\nYour support with the materials donated has also given our classroom another important routine to add to our day. When we started, staff really had to participate alongside students to model, prompt, and motivate their participation. Now, students are completing they hygiene routine daily and with independence thanks to our reusable hygiene charts. So many great experiences. Being able to use these desk attachments to transition between all of the different classes that share our room has been such a blessing this year. My math students use them every single day and then we are able to tuck them behind the chairs for my later classes. On days when my leadership class or choir classes have paper assignments to do, we pull the desks back down and are easily able to transition.\r\n\r\nI would also like to give a specific thank you from my left-handed students.
