These new diverse titles are helping us practice important reading skills like making connections, asking questions, and seeing different perspectives. When students see themselves represented in books—or discover lives very different from their own—it sparks rich conversations and deeper comprehension.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom now feels more exciting than ever. Students are eager to browse the shelves, recommend books to friends, and share what they've discovered during small-group discussions. One student, who used to struggle to stay focused during independent reading, has found a new favorite series from our collection and now asks to keep reading even after the timer goes off. Moments like this show just how powerful access to the right books can be.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students stories that inspire them, challenge their thinking, and build a love for reading. Every day we use technology for reading, math, and language activities, and now each child can listen and focus without distractions. The best part is that everyone has the same headphones! No one feels left out or embarrassed about not having the \"cool\" kind. This has given my students a real sense of equality and belonging in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe students are so excited to use them, and they take pride in caring for their own pair. One student who often felt self-conscious about bringing older headphones from home now puts on her new set with confidence and participates fully in her lessons. These have been so instrumental in building student stamina and fluency when reading. In the past, it was easy for struggling readers to drift off or just bide their time while the rest of the class was reading - voice recorders have incentivized reading - they love practicing their skills and it holds them accountable. \r\nI can listen to each student during my prep time and give feedback or see who needs more support. \r\nMost students have used these as a scaffold - once they have discovered the joy of reading, they transition to silent reading and are able to stay focused!
