I started out the year with each student having a plant on their desk. They were to research the name of the plant, where it originated from, and how to care for it. At the same time, I asked for \"their names - where did you originate from and how can I care for you this year?\"\r\n\r\nMost of my students originate from Vietnam, Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia, and the Pacific Islands. All of them were interested in spending the year learning about and caring for their plants.\r\n\r\nWe have one south facing window, so most plants are in that window as we water them and watch them grow.
