With the Carolina Investigations for Cell Communication kits now in our classroom, students have moved beyond textbook diagrams to engaging, hands-on experiments that bring cell signaling to life. Recently, my students designed and conducted experiments to observe how cells send and receive messages, using real lab materials that challenged them to think critically and solve problems just like real scientists. One memorable moment was when a group excitedly discovered how signaling pathways can amplify messages, sparking lively discussions and deeper understanding.\r\n\r\nWhen the kits first arrived, my students were genuinely excited and curious, eager to explore the materials and start experimenting. This enthusiasm quickly translated into increased engagement and collaboration, as they took ownership of their learning by forming hypotheses and analyzing their results together. Because of your support, they are gaining confidence in their scientific skills and developing a more meaningful connection to complex biological concepts.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are building on this momentum by designing more advanced experiments to investigate cell communication in different contexts and applying these principles to health and disease. Your contribution has truly transformed our classroom into a dynamic, inquiry-driven environment where students thrive. Thank you for making this possible and for investing in the future scientists and critical thinkers of tomorrow.","fullyFundedDate":1757617397497,"projectUrl":"project/talking-cells-hands-on-experiments-in-c/9576523/","projectTitle":"Talking Cells: Hands-On Experiments in Communication","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Glogau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8490329_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1654691684453","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8490329"},{"teacherId":1824287,"projectId":9127117,"letterContent":"Never did I imagine that buying graphic novels for my class would increase the amount of reading this much. Students then either put a sticky note in the book to return to next class, or ask to find a book in prose with similar content.\r\n\r\nIt is amazing to see the level of engagement with a mode that I previously thought was not really \"reading.\" I am so happy I chose to look at graphic novels as a vehicle to literacy versus a barrier.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me give my students what they need to become successful readers.","fullyFundedDate":1741093657563,"projectUrl":"project/graphic-novels-the-boost-our-readers-n/9127117/","projectTitle":"Graphic Novels - the Boost Our Readers Need","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wessinger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1824287_orig.jpg?crop=1163,1163,x0,y259&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651524365313","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/wessinger"},{"teacherId":1824287,"projectId":8699796,"letterContent":"Though we have not yet had the chance to use the wonderful supplies you supported us in getting, we are laying the groundwork to produce incredible presentations.\r\n\r\nFor the past six months, students have been studying one word in depth, to see how much \"one word\" has to offer. We have looked at TED Talks, poetry, lyrics and definitions to truly analyze the breadth and depth of the word.\r\n\r\nLast year was an incredible success. Every student created a tribute to their word, using the learning they had done throughout the months leading up to June.
