Your support has helped create a safe, welcoming, and expressive space for students who need it deeply.\r\n\r\nFor many students, GSA is one of the only places at school where they feel fully seen, valued, and free to be themselves. The art supplies you provided give students a powerful outlet for self-expression, reflection, and connection. Through art, students are able to explore identity, process emotions, and build community in ways that words alone cannot always capture.\r\n\r\nAlready, students are using these supplies to create meaningful artwork that reflects their experiences and affirms who they are. The supplies have transformed our meetings into a more inclusive, creative, and supportive environment—one where students feel empowered to show up authentically.\r\n\r\nYour generosity directly supports students' mental health, sense of belonging, and well-being. Because of you, every student now has their own calculator to keep for the rest of their high school math career—and beyond.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, this is the first time they have ever owned a calculator of their own. Having a personal calculator removes a significant barrier to learning and allows students to fully engage in class, complete homework confidently, and focus on understanding mathematical concepts rather than worrying about access to materials.\r\n\r\nThese calculators will support students not just this year, but throughout all of their future math courses. They are a long-term investment in my students' academic success, independence, and confidence. Already, I am seeing increased participation, stronger problem-solving skills, and a sense of pride as students take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created a more equitable classroom and provided students with a tool they will use daily for years to come. Already this year I've had students pull down graphic novels in quiet downtimes after tests or during free periods. It's been a low stakes, low pressure kind of situation where they can pull it off the shelf and pop it back on later with no expectation that they have to read the whole thing. In some cases, I'll drop one in front a kid, earning me an instant eye roll, but wait for it... Ten minutes later, guess who's got the Science Comic open for the rest of class?\r\n\r\nI got the greatest compliment this year from one of the English teachers: \"I've heard a bunch of kids talking about how you have cool stuff in your classroom library.\" My head exploded. Kids talking about reading?! Is it a coincidence that interest is picking up the year I stock it with graphic novels? I think not. My students and I appreciate your willingness to help us start the school year with school supplies they can use. Many of the supplies are getting used every day - pencils, pens, erasers, notebook paper, and spiral notebooks. The notebooks are being used for class notes and vocabulary collection, which they can use for tests and quizzes. The markers, scissors, and glue sticks have been used for small projects and presentations. It makes such a difference having these supplies available for students to use whenever they need them. \r\n\r\nOne of the activities that we do frequently is dictation. Students use small whiteboards to write down what they hear me say, such as spelling out numbers, common words, and simple sentences. It has been helpful having enough dry erase markers and erasers for students to use. These tend to disappear after a while, so having extras on hand makes a difference. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your donation. Now they can focus on using the literacy program with fewer distractions. Right now, we are using them for state testing and we have enough for three classrooms to do testing at the same time without having to share headphones. The Chromebook chargers are used everyday, as inevitably, someone forgets their charger at home, so students are able to charge their computer even if it's not being used in class that day. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has made utilizing technology in my classroom much easier.
