Thanks to your generosity, our classroom received a large collection of new picture books, and my students are still enjoying them every day. These books have made a huge difference in our reading time. Students are excited to explore new stories, discover new ideas, and talk about what they've read with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThe picture books have helped students develop important skills like comprehension, vocabulary, and making connections between stories and their own lives. They also encourage creativity and spark curiosity, inspiring students to ask questions, make predictions, and even try writing their own stories.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the books have brought a sense of joy and community to our classroom. Students look forward to story time, gather together in small groups to discuss the books, and share their favorites with friends. Your donation has helped cultivate a love of reading that extends beyond our classroom and creates lasting memories for my students.\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a meaningful impact on their learning and their love of books.","fullyFundedDate":1606140815894,"projectUrl":"project/a-picture-book-a-day-yes-please/5295567/","projectTitle":"A Picture Book a Day? With the new books, students practiced important strategies like making inferences, identifying themes, and using context clues to understand challenging vocabulary. We also spent time discussing characters and their choices, which helped students connect what they read to their own lives.\r\n\r\nReading often looked like small groups gathered with their books in hand, pausing to jot down notes or turning to talk with a partner. Sometimes the room was quiet as everyone dove into a chapter, and other times it was full of conversation as students shared their thoughts. The highlight was when we formed book clubs, which gave students the chance to choose texts, read together, and lead their own discussions. These clubs encouraged deeper comprehension and greater engagement as students asked thoughtful questions and built on each other's ideas.\r\n\r\nThe new texts brought a lot of excitement to our reading time. Students were eager to explore different genres, recommend titles to one another, and take books home to keep reading outside of school. These materials, especially through our book clubs, helped them see themselves as readers in a way that felt meaningful and fun.","fullyFundedDate":1603834393350,"projectUrl":"project/staying-connected-with-book-clubs/5239047/","projectTitle":"Staying Connected With Book Clubs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5601501_orig.png?crop=889,889,x18,y12&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1676598829563","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-shannon-hanson"},{"teacherId":5601501,"projectId":4512930,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new STEM resources, they were so excited! The room was filled with collaboration, laughter, and genuine curiosity.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students now have opportunities to think critically, test their ideas, and experience science and problem-solving in ways that feel fun and engaging.
