I have always lived in Colorado where it is very dry, so moving to the coast has been a big shift. I have spent thousands of dollars on my classroom library to make sure there are readily available books for my student. I make sure my books are a variety of levels and high interest so they are readily available for my students. Having direct access to books at their fingertips is so important for their success. I have built my classroom library over the years and I am very proud of it and I'm so happy that I will have the dehumidifier to be able to keep my books safe with all this extra humidity. Even though for the students they may not seem like a lot? In the long run it will make a lasting impact. When the floor tiles arrived; students were fascinated with them and have already tested them out. Having a cozy corner in my room is so important because sometimes students just need a minute to be able to re-gather their thoughts and then be able to return to learning. Having those floor tiles really was the finishing touch for my cozy corner. The maze fidgets are also a nice touch because it gives the students something to do with their hands and focus on versus what is maybe being in their mind. We are helping them work with regulating their emotions without them even noticing.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe bands for the chairs have already been put to the test. Helping students get some movement while still being able to learn.\r\n\r\nI am implementing the Mind Up curriculum during advisory time. We have already completed lesson one which is about how the brain works and the different parts of the brain. Students were very excited to learn what the hippocampus was and how it works. I can't wait to teach more of these lessons with my students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting my students and my classroom!
