Having the option to choose the seating that meets the needs that they have allows them to focus more on their lessons. It can be difficult having so much pent up energy that they have no way to expend while they are being made to sit still and learn. Being able to move helps them to free up their brains to focus on the lesson, instead of focusing on their movement needs. \r\nMy students were so excited when they came in and saw all of the flexible seating options available to them. They now come in to my classroom excited to learn because they know that they are going to be able to focus. In addition to the flexible seating, the light filters help take the harshness out of the lighting, allow their eyes to not strain against the blue light that they lights emit. The laminator has been used to create items, such as visual schedules and stop signs, to help my students anticipate what is next in their day, as well as where it is not safe to go without an adult.","fullyFundedDate":1746786218059,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-accommodated-learni/9190217/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Accommodated Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Merritt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9203728_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y3&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714758645551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9203728"},{"teacherId":8845941,"projectId":9382262,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been completely transformed into a Safari-themed learning adventure! The new décor and books have created a bright, welcoming environment that sparks excitement the moment my students walk through the door. One of their favorite moments so far was discovering the safari animal brain break cards—we had a room full of lions roaring, giraffes stretching, and monkeys swinging in no time! The joy on their faces was unforgettable, and it reminded me just how much your gift has impacted their daily learning experience.\r\n\r\nThe books and materials you provided are already being used to strengthen reading, writing, and creativity. During story time, my students eagerly gather around to explore new safari-themed books, and many of them are starting to make text-to-self connections, saying things like, \"I'm like the zebra because I like to run fast too!\" Our classroom theme has also inspired their art and writing projects—students are creating their own \"mini safaris\" on paper, blending imagination with literacy skills in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will be using these resources to build stronger reading habits, expand vocabulary, and encourage cooperative learning. With the safari theme as our backdrop, students are motivated to dive deeper into stories and engage more actively with lessons. None of this would have been possible without your kindness. There wasn't a science curriculum or much else in the first grade room. \r\nI reached out to Donor's Choose and because of their wonderful donors, we were able to add some science activities to our class. I was able to purchase a talking microscope, writing paper, laminator, and a rolling cart to store our science things in. I also had some sugar free suckers added.\r\nThe kids have already made good use of the suckers. Many of them had never seen a microscope. It has been the go to center everyday. It came with quite a few slides and I also ordered extra. They love to look at things under the microscope.\r\nWe have just about used all the writing paper.
