Thanks to your support and funding, their mindsets around writing have totally shifted! \r\n\r\nWhen I first created the project, I was unsure whether colorful erasable pens, fun notebooks, and stickers would motivate students to write. After utilizing these tools for half the year, I am sure that they work. Now when we have writing lessons, they are excited to get out their decorated notebook and when they make a spelling mistake (in their neon pink ink) they are not stressed, but marvel at the way it can erase. Lesson learned: sometimes adding a little flair and fun to an assignment is all it takes to change our minds about it! Through your generosity, I was able to purchase materials to assist students in learning basic facts, such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I was also able to get materials to help further students skills for key objectives that focus on multiplication, division, fractions and place value. \r\n\r\nBefore using the materials, I gave students a chance to see all of the materials that we now have for our math library. Students were so surprised and excited to see all our math supplies. They couldn't wait to get a closer look. Now that students had a chance to see all the materials laid out it was time to explore. \r\n\r\nIn order to further explore the materials, students formed groups and selected the game of their choice. Upon choosing their game, they immediately began playing. The one thing I noticed was that students worked with their group, but then wanted to change groups to work with others. This is significant because students typically want to only work with their closest friends. Our math library gave them the chance to work with others and develop a relationship with others.\r\n\r\nWhen students were asked to describe their experience with their new math library, they said it was fun. They enjoyed having the opportunity to learn with their peers in a fun and engaging manner.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity.
