With our new bell-to-bell cell phone ban, students needed something positive and engaging to do when they finished their work early. These puzzle tables, coloring paper, and colored pencils have given them exactly that.\r\n\r\nThe first day we set up the puzzle tables, students immediately gathered around them. They started sorting pieces, talking through ideas, and working together without being prompted. Others chose the coloring paper as a way to relax after long stretches of computer work. The excitement was genuine, and several students mentioned how nice it was to have something hands-on to do instead of reaching for their phones.\r\n\r\nThese resources are now part of our everyday classroom routine at Thomas-Fay-Custer Schools. When students finish early, they naturally move into these activities while staying focused and productive. They are building problem-solving skills, learning to work with others, and finding healthy ways to reset their minds.
