The speaker has allowed our students to perform with proper accompaniment during concerts and classroom activities, giving them a true performance experience. It's been incredible to watch their confidence grow as they hear themselves play alongside professional-quality tracks.\r\n\r\nThe instructional books have been a game changer for our students learning new instruments. Instead of struggling through YouTube videos or outdated materials, they now have clear, structured guidance on technique, theory, and repertoire. I've seen students go from absolute beginners to confidently playing full songs within weeks!\r\n\r\nThe percussion practice pads have been a huge help in creating a more focused and calm learning environment. Our percussionists can now practice their skills without overwhelming the rest of the classroom, and the result has been improved technique and happier classmates.\r\n\r\nLastly, having a steady supply of drumsticks, reeds, and other daily necessities has ensured that no student has been left behind simply because they couldn't afford their own materials. Students have been able to fully participate every single day, and it's shown in their progress and dedication.\r\n\r\nYour generosity hasn't just provided supplies—you've helped give these kids a chance to discover their talents, gain confidence, and find joy in music. From all of us, thank you for making such a difference in our students' lives this year.","fullyFundedDate":1724083814886,"projectUrl":"project/step-into-a-musical-wonderland-and-help/8547726/","projectTitle":"Step Into a Musical Wonderland and Help Dreams Be Created!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Randy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8828889_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690749289655","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8828889"},{"teacherId":8828889,"projectId":6975877,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our students have been able to experience music in a whole new way through guitar! From the moment they first saw the guitars and supplies, their faces lit up. Many of these students had never even held a guitar before, and it was like Christmas morning in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne special moment that really stood out was when one of our students, who had never performed in front of a crowd before, played a song at our spring concert. It was a simple piece, but the pride on their face and the cheers from the audience were unforgettable. That moment made it clear just how much this opportunity has meant to them.\r\n\r\nCurrently, our students are working on writing their own simple chord progressions and learning how to accompany each other. The next step is to have small group performances where they play together as ensembles. These guitars have given them a creative outlet and the confidence to try new things, and we're so excited to see them continue growing.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible—you've made a real difference for these kids!","fullyFundedDate":1674600766388,"projectUrl":"project/guitars-and-future-stars/6975877/","projectTitle":"Guitars and Future Stars!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Randy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8828889_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690749289655","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8828889"},{"teacherId":9171673,"projectId":8662447,"letterContent":"The \"Random Acts of Kindness\" project at SHS has had a meaningful and transformative impact on our school culture. By encouraging students to step outside of their comfort zones and consider the emotional experiences of their peers, this initiative fostered a deeper sense of empathy and community. As students created and distributed personalized keychains and cards and candy with uplifting messages, they became more mindful of those around them—particularly individuals who may often go unnoticed or feel isolated. Simple yet intentional acts, like sitting with someone new at lunch or offering a message of encouragement, have created ripple effects across campus, reminding both students and staff that they are seen, valued, and not alone.\r\n\r\nOne student shared, \"I never realized how much just sitting with someone could mean. One girl told me no one had sat down with her all semester.\" Moments like this have become common throughout the project. In one instance, a group of students left handmade keychains with kind messages on teachers' desks before a big staff meeting. One teacher was so moved, she kept the card taped to her computer screen, saying it reminded her why she became an educator. These small acts have become powerful reminders of the goodness we're all capable of sharing. In a post-pandemic school environment where many students continue to struggle with feelings of disconnection, this initiative has offered a tangible way to rebuild community and foster a culture rooted in compassion. As an equity-focused school, SHS is proud to support projects like this that not only promote emotional healing but also plant the seeds for lifelong empathy and social responsibility.","fullyFundedDate":1725641703792,"projectUrl":"project/acts-of-heart-creating-a-culture-of-kin/8662447/","projectTitle":"Acts of Heart: Creating a Culture of Kindness & Compassion","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pilcher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9171673_orig.jpg?crop=956,956,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695316980084","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9171673"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_86209","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":651,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":54,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":43.8,"schoolId":86209,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stilwell High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stilwell High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/stilwell-school-district-i-25/stilwell-high-school/86209"}
