These snacks are used daily to support students who need a quick boost of energy or a calming break during learning. Many of our students struggle with focus, regulation, or sensory needs, and having access to simple, clean snacks helps them stay engaged and ready to learn. Instead of worrying about food sensitivities or reactions, we are able to offer snacks that support student wellbeing and learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the snack options, they were excited and grateful. Several noticed the difference right away and appreciated having choices that made them feel better throughout the day. For some students, these snacks helped reduce mid day fatigue and frustration, allowing them to participate more fully in lessons and group activities. Having snacks that students can trust has created a sense of comfort and care in the classroom.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, we are able to be more proactive in supporting student needs during the school day. The next steps include continuing to use snacks as part of structured breaks, small group instruction, and positive behavior supports. These dye free snacks are helping students feel supported, focused, and ready to learn. Teachers are using the strategies from the book during daily classroom interactions, especially when students struggle with behavior, emotional regulation, or problem solving. Staff members have shared real classroom moments where they paused to rethink a response, asked better questions, and focused on understanding what a student was communicating rather than reacting to the behavior itself. This shift has helped create calmer classrooms and stronger relationships between teachers and students.\r\n\r\nWhen teachers first received the books, there was genuine excitement and curiosity. Many immediately connected the ideas to the students they work with every day. As discussions unfolded, teachers expressed relief at having practical tools that align with empathy, collaboration, and brain-based understanding. Several shared that the book helped them feel more confident and supported when working with students who experience frequent frustration or disengagement.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, teachers are now continuing collaborative conversations around problem-solving, emotional regulation, and proactive supports. The next steps include applying these strategies more intentionally during team meetings, student support planning, and classroom routines. This book study has strengthened our school culture by giving educators a shared language and approach for supporting students who need it most. Thank you for investing in our teachers and helping us build learning environments where every student feels understood and supported.","fullyFundedDate":1757448739591,"projectUrl":"project/lost-at-school-a-book-study/9471572/","projectTitle":"Lost at School: a Book Study","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Coker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6791191_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1625780886634","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-cokers"},{"teacherId":6791191,"projectId":9900163,"letterContent":"The table covers you provided have made an immediate difference in our classroom. We use our tables every day for hands on learning such as small group instruction, art projects, writing activities, and sensory based lessons. Before, sticky and worn table surfaces often distracted students and limited how we could use materials. With the new covers in place, students can focus on learning without worrying about papers sticking or materials getting damaged. The tables are now clean, smooth, and ready for learning at any moment.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the table covers, they were excited and curious. Several commented on how nice the tables looked and how much easier it was to write and work on them. The improved surface has helped students stay engaged longer, especially those who struggle with attention or sensory sensitivities. Something as simple as a comfortable workspace has helped create a calmer, more organized learning environment where students feel proud of their classroom.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, we are now able to expand our use of interactive lessons and collaborative work. Students are spending more time working together on projects, rotating through learning centers, and using hands-on materials without interruption. These table covers support both academic growth and classroom independence, and they will continue to benefit students for years to come. Thank you for investing in our classroom and helping create a space where students can learn comfortably and confidently.","fullyFundedDate":1763702656742,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-cover-our-sticky-tables/9900163/","projectTitle":"Help Us Cover Our Sticky Tables","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Coker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6791191_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1625780886634","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-cokers"},{"teacherId":7332033,"projectId":9703933,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom Lego project. The funds you provided have helped us purchase new trash cans for our playground, giving students a dedicated place to dispose of litter and helping keep our entire campus clean and safe for all, from pre-K to 12th grade. Your generosity has empowered our students to become active participants in caring for their shared spaces.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see the new cans arrive and immediately took ownership of the project. The best moment so far was seeing a first-grader, without any prompting, stop to pick up a stray wrapper and put it in one of the new cans. It's an incredible lesson in community and responsibility that they are truly embracing.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, the project is evolving. We are now working on a \"School Pride\" unit, where students will learn how to maintain a beautiful campus and encourage their peers to do the same. This small change has made a big difference in how our students view their role within the school community.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your incredible support.","fullyFundedDate":1746786043642,"projectUrl":"project/a-clean-playground-for-little-learners/9215891/","projectTitle":"A Clean Playground for Little Learners: Investing in Environmental Wellness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ashleigh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8934626"},{"teacherId":8934626,"projectId":9040561,"letterContent":"I am writing on behalf of the middle and high school girls in our Home Economics program to express our profound gratitude for your thoughtful donation of feminine hygiene products. Your generosity has provided a true sense of peace and comfort to our students. They are so appreciative of not having to interrupt class or go to the front office to ask for these essential supplies. Your contribution fosters a more respectful and supportive learning environment for all. The absence of these products can create significant anxiety, distraction, and even embarrassment for our students at a very vulnerable age. Previously, a student might have felt compelled to miss a critical part of a lesson, abandon a hands-on lab activity, or feel a sense of public exposure just to access a basic necessity. Your donation, however, has removed these stressful barriers entirely, allowing them to remain secure and discreetly handle their personal needs with dignity. This simple act of kindness has had a monumental impact on their daily school experience, affirming their self-worth and ensuring they feel seen and cared for within our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1746494813454,"projectUrl":"project/keeping-our-girls-comfortable-and-focuse/9040561/","projectTitle":"Keeping Our Girls Comfortable and Focused: Providing Essential Hygiene Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ashleigh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8934626"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_122173","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":60,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":15,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":45.3,"schoolId":122173,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Academy of Seminole High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Academy of Seminole High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/oklahoma-department-of-education/the-academy-of-seminole-opens-fall-2018-/122173"}
