These new tools provide me with materials to use with special needs students that come to see me for reading lessons. The dry erase boards and supplies allow the students to draw responses to reading questions if they can't orally respond, with the 'touch and feel' board books allowing my blind student to participate in a reading lesson. Having these different resources allows me to better plan so that each student, no matter their ability level, can participate in the lessons and find enjoyment in coming to the library.Although they are middle school age, my students have different reading levels, so the guided reading leveled books will help meet the student at their individual reading levels. \r\n\r\nI spend time each week reading individually with students, which include leveled reading text, sight word practice using the white boards, then a whole class lesson that includes every student. This whole class approach is designed for finding enjoyment in reading, so the new \"Pete the Cat\" books are perfect! We have fun using the online resources that go along with each book, appealing to those students who respond to music and movement.
