Their faces lit up just like the table as they experimented with the magnetic letters and numbers, arranging them into words, sentences, and number patterns. For many, it was the first time they had a hands-on, glowing space to explore literacy and math in such a fun and engaging way. The excitement was contagious, and students began helping one another, proudly reading aloud the words they had created and sharing their discoveries.\r\n\r\nThe addition of the wooden table and chairs gave us a perfect spot for group projects and writing activities. With the alphabet stamps, Scrabble tiles, and cardstock, my students have been building words, stamping their names, and creating stories that show off their growing confidence in literacy. The Crayola and Mr. Sketch markers, along with the smooth river rocks, sparked a kindness project where students decorated rocks with positive messages to share with their classmates. The two new books—The Book with No Pictures and Fill a Bucket—have also become classroom favorites, sparking laughter and important conversations about empathy and kindness.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students now have access to materials that make learning playful, creative, and meaningful. Our next steps include using the light table for science explorations and extending literacy projects with our new letter sets. They immediately began arranging the wooden family figures into different rooms, creating imaginative storylines and working together to build entire \"families\" and homes. The Melissa & Doug table and chairs have quickly become a favorite gathering spot for group play, where children sit together to color with the Sharpie markers or share ideas during collaborative activities. Having headphones available has also given students the chance to focus on listening activities without distraction, and the USB charging hub has been a lifesaver in keeping all of our devices ready for use.\r\n\r\nThese resources have transformed the way my students learn and play. The dollhouse has become a powerful tool for social-emotional learning—students practice problem-solving, communication, and empathy as they act out real-world scenarios. During one lesson, a group of students created a \"family meeting\" in the dollhouse and took turns playing different roles; their conversations revealed both creativity and deep thinking about how families work together. It was one of those unforgettable teaching moments where play turned into powerful learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom now has materials that invite creativity, encourage collaboration, and support meaningful engagement every day. Our next steps include integrating the dollhouse into upcoming thematic lessons about community and families, and continuing to use the table, chairs, and art supplies for group projects that help students build both academic and social skills. We are so grateful for your support in making our classroom a place where imagination and learning thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1746786136669,"projectUrl":"project/tools-to-inspire-play-and-learning/9078520/","projectTitle":"Tools to Inspire Play and Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Munsell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9888627_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736828256688","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9888627"},{"teacherId":9926021,"projectId":9321080,"letterContent":"Although we received this donation during the last few weeks of school, I have already seen the benefits of having this light table.
