In a rural setting, it can be challenging to keep students excited about school when their opportunities outside the classroom are limited. The TV has given me a way to bring lessons to life with visuals, videos, and interactive activities that grab their attention and make content feel real and connected to the world beyond our community. The Nintendo Switch has been even more powerful than I expected—it has become a tool for teamwork, problem-solving, and building confidence. Students light up when they see how their effort and strategy can lead to success, and that energy spills over into their academic work.\r\n\r\nI have also seen an impact on attendance and participation. Students who might have been less motivated to come to class now look forward to being here because they know learning will be engaging and fun. The Switch provides moments of collaboration and healthy competition that strengthen relationships and create a positive classroom culture. More than just \"playing games,\" it's helping students practice perseverance, communication, and adaptability—skills that will serve them in every part of life. It has been a joy to watch them grow, not just as learners, but as people who believe school can be meaningful and enjoyable.","fullyFundedDate":1755610144101,"projectUrl":"project/leveling-up-learning-esports-for-rural/9267713/","projectTitle":"Leveling Up Learning: Esports for Rural Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wolford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8315299"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44405","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":233,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":7,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":44405,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Meeker High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Meeker High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/meeker-school-district-i-95/meeker-high-school/44405"}
