While many people are familiar with using headphones at home for entertainment, in a school setting they are powerful learning tools. With their own set of headphones, students can access text-to-speech programs, listen to instructional videos, and engage with interactive lessons without distractions from surrounding noise. This allows each child to learn at their own pace and focus on the content in a way that works best for them, fostering independence and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is the privacy and personalization the headphones provide. They can work on assignments, listen to audiobooks, or participate in language-learning activities without feeling self-conscious. For many, this has transformed tasks that once felt overwhelming into activities they genuinely enjoy. The headphones also make it possible for multiple students to engage in different activities at the same time, creating a more dynamic and inclusive classroom environment.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who has an auditory processing disorder, has shown incredible growth since receiving the headphones. Before, she often missed key parts of instructions in the noise of the classroom. Now, she can replay lessons, hear every detail clearly, and work through material at her own pace. She's more confident, more engaged, and more willing to participate in group discussions. These headphones may seem like a small gift, but for our students, they've opened the door to clearer communication, deeper focus, and more meaningful learning.","fullyFundedDate":1743009991029,"projectUrl":"project/technology-for-the-classroom/9026362/","projectTitle":"Technology for the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brewer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9670755_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735845454690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9670755"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55803","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1884,"numTeachers":99,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":48,"percentIndigenous":8,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":55803,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jenks Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jenks Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/jenks-public-schools/jenks-middle-school/55803"}
