We had such a need for lower level books for my students who have unique reading needs. Progress is slow sometimes, but having new books help engage my little readers. Because we have multiple levels that you provided, when kids are ready we will have the books ready to go.\r\n\r\nOur favorite book is about the beach and a book that helps teach the color words. Because each book has multiple copies we are learning to read as a group. \r\n\r\nYou have been such a blessing to our class. The first game we got out was multiplication bingo; the students really enjoyed reviewing their math facts and can't wait to play again soon. \r\nThese games are a great tool to use in small groups. They give the students the opportunity to apply what they have learned. We have already enjoyed them so much. They greatly enrich our learning experience. \r\n Each week we read a new picture book for our mentor sentence. We highlight one sentence to study. We label all the parts of speech together, along with the type of sentence and other details we notice. Then we revise the sentence to make it better by adding adjectives, adverbs, vivid verbs, prepositional phrases or anything else we think makes the sentence more interesting. This helps us to apply all of the things we have learned in grammar. It also makes us better writers. \r\n We also use our picture books to learn important standards in reading. We are able to practice things like cause and effect, theme and main idea, summarizing, and author's purpose along with many other skills. This is such a fun way to practice what we are learning.\r\n Students also love to read the books to themselves or with a friend. Every Thursday, students go on grammar hunts in books looking for a specific part of speech like adjectives or adverbs. Picture books have so much rich language and are also very entertaining for this practice.","fullyFundedDate":1730733540745,"projectUrl":"project/big-kids-love-picture-books-too/8606599/","projectTitle":"Big Kids Love Picture Books Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wiley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7154401_orig.jpg?crop=351,351,x0,y38&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755437909691","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7154401"},{"teacherId":2148797,"projectId":8919902,"letterContent":"You provided my kids with some really fun activities that support learning, problem solving, fine motor skills, social skills, and academic development.
