One of our favorite activities so far has been designing digital name tags—students programmed their micro:bits to scroll their names and display custom light patterns using LEDs. This project helped them understand sequencing, loops, and logic while also sparking creativity as they personalized their displays. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the micro:bits, they were immediately curious and excited. Many of them had only experienced coding through screen-based programs, so the idea that they could physically hold, program, and watch a device respond to their code felt magical. The moment their first coded message appeared on the LED grid, the room filled with cheers—it was a powerful reminder of how tangible tools can make learning engaging and meaningful.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will be collaborating in small groups to design interactive prototypes that integrate coding, data collection, and problem-solving. They will work together, connecting lessons in science and math with real-world applications of technology. These next steps will deepen their understanding of coding logic, teamwork, and innovation—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1751500457578,"projectUrl":"project/bring-coding-to-life-in-a-tangible-way/9440375/","projectTitle":"Bring Coding to Life in a Tangible Way","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bowman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8338364"},{"teacherId":3987038,"projectId":9092305,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom.
