Items like weighted lap pads, rocker chairs, texture tools, and sensory lighting help students feel calm and supported so they can engage with lessons, peers, and routines more successfully.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is that these tools feel like play. Rocker chairs let wiggly bodies move while staying engaged. Sensory textures invite curious hands to explore. Bubble lamps provide a calming visual anchor during transitions or moments of overwhelm. These supports help turn what could be frustrating moments into successful learning experiences.\r\n\r\nSome students have especially benefited—particularly those who struggle with attention, sensory regulation, or big emotions. We've seen children who once needed frequent breaks now sit longer, participate more willingly, and show pride in staying engaged. These tools don't change expectations—they change access.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classrooms are calmer, more inclusive, and better equipped to meet every child where they are. Your support helped turn everyday wiggles into meaningful wins, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1764699279995,"projectUrl":"project/from-wiggles-to-wins-tools-for-every-ch/9907027/","projectTitle":"From Wiggles to Wins: Tools for Every Child","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rachel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9836200_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y364&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731533734005","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rmonnin"},{"teacherId":9836200,"projectId":9908259,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, our preschoolers now have new and exciting ways to communicate, participate, and connect with the world around them—and the difference has been truly meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhile communication tools like switches and buttons may seem simple, in a school setting they are powerful learning tools. Switch-adapted toys teach cause-and-effect and independence. Communication buttons give students a concrete way to express messages like greetings, requests, and choices. For emerging communicators, these tools open doors that spoken words alone cannot.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is the sense of control and success these tools bring. Pressing a switch to activate a toy or tapping a button to share a message creates instant feedback—and instant confidence. Students light up when they realize, \"I made that happen.\"\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this technology, particularly those with limited verbal or motor abilities. Children who previously observed from the sidelines are now active participants—initiating play, joining routines, and interacting with peers. These moments may look small, but they are huge steps in communication development.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped our preschool speech team bring accessible communication into multiple classrooms, supporting students not just during therapy, but throughout their school day. Because of you, more students are being heard, understood, and included.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping our students find their voices in ways that truly matter.","fullyFundedDate":1764694761926,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-big-voices-making-communi/9908259/","projectTitle":"Little Hands, Big Voices: Making Communication Playful and Accessible","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rachel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9836200_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y364&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731533734005","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rmonnin"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85303","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":659,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":56,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 1","studentTeacherRatio":"30.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.0,"schoolId":85303,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Carrollton Early Childhood Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Carrollton Early Childhood Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/west-carrollton-city-school-district/walter-shade-early-childhood-ctr/85303"}
