We have traveled to South America, India, Japan, and Africa! We have created ojos de Dios, bracelets, necklaces, origami hats/fortune tellers, and banners. We seen markets in India and Africa, mountains and rain forests in South America, and castles in Japan. For Diwali we learned new dances and about the five days of gift giving. For Kwanzaa we made banners and learned the 7 prinicples. The students have enjoyed learning and creating something new each time. I asked for snacks, candy and simple toys to give to the students. As a way to encourage and support leadership skills, I organized a monthly reward for classes who use their proactive and think win-win choices. Each month the students in 20 classrooms who earn this reward through the required positive behavior choices are given the rewards. Students now have choices of the cushions and the sitting desks, in addition to their seats and the tables in my classroom. I've noticed they're more engaged, more comfortable, and better able to focus on their work as they are able to move to the seating that best fits their needs. It's amazing how a simple change in seating can spark such positive energy in the room.\r\n\r\nBeyond that, the laminating pouches and paper supplies have been game-changers. I'm have been able to create durable, colorful resources that my students can use again and again; including flashcards, personalized anchor charts, math manipulative, and learning centers that actually hold up to daily classroom life. I placed the cart organizer by our door to the playground. The student can easily get items off and take outside. Then items can be put back as they come back into the building. \r\nI have the basketballs, footballs and soccer balls on the cart.
