Your donations have funded some wonderful new materials for my classroom that have made learning more engaging for my preschool students.\r\n\r\nI want to share how we used a few specific items in the classroom. The Pete the Cat game is loved by all my students. By playing this engaging game, my preschoolers learned about shapes while also learning how to take turns and cooperate with others. Another favorite was the mailbox. I turned our dramatic play area into a post office and the students loved mailing letters to each other. Because of you, my students now have access to high-quality books that perfectly align with our CKLA units, and the impact has been incredible.\r\n\r\nThe donated books were used throughout our CKLA lessons to build background knowledge, strengthen comprehension, and spark curiosity. Having the actual books in their hands made a huge difference—students were more engaged, more confident, and more excited to read. \r\n\r\nWe also used the books to create meaningful projects that extended learning beyond the text. Students completed research-based writing pieces, created visual projects, and participated in discussions that connected reading to science, history, and real-world topics. The books allowed us to dive deeper into CKLA units and encouraged students to ask thoughtful questions and make strong text-based connections.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, these books helped foster a love of reading. Students were eager to revisit texts, share facts they learned, and recommend books to classmates. One especially meaningful moment was during a small-group lesson when a student who typically avoids reading aloud eagerly volunteered to use the new materials and successfully decoded words we had been practicing. It was a great reminder of how the right tools can boost both skill development and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and curious. Many immediately wanted to explore them and asked when we would get to use them again. The hands-on and engaging nature of the resources helped students feel more motivated and invested in their learning, which has already translated into stronger focus and participation during lessons.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these resources as part of ongoing, targeted instruction aligned to their individual reading goals. We will build on current lessons by increasing opportunities for guided practice, progress monitoring, and application of skills in connected reading and writing tasks. These materials will remain a key part of helping students grow as confident, capable readers—and we are incredibly grateful to our donors for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1762901562461,"projectUrl":"project/lift-off-with-literacy/9870104/","projectTitle":"Lift Off with Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cok","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339407"},{"teacherId":10349005,"projectId":9892247,"letterContent":"Thanks to this project, my students now have more access to hands-on, visual tools that have made speech therapy more engaging, effective, and meaningful. The mouth model and mirrors are used daily during articulation sessions to explicitly teach correct tongue placement, jaw positioning, and airflow for targeted speech sounds. These resources allow students to see what their mouth should be doing rather than relying only on verbal explanations, which has been especially impactful for students working on persistent speech sound errors.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was during a session targeting /r/ sounds. Using the mouth model alongside a mirror, a student was able to independently adjust their tongue placement after visually comparing their own mouth to the model. That immediate self-correction led to improved accuracy within the same session; a powerful moment of growth and confidence that would not have been possible without these tools. With that, we were also able to incorporate another material provided through this grant (the R sound chaining workbook- another quick grab for my /r/ students!) \r\n\r\nWhen students were first introduced to my new materials, their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Many were excited to use a \"real\" mouth model (my old, small one broke years ago) and were eager to take turns looking in the mirror and practicing. For students who sometimes struggle with motivation, these materials helped transform therapy into something interactive and concrete, increasing their buy-in and willingness to participate.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these resources will continue to support my students as we work toward greater independence and carryover of skills beyond the therapy room. Students are learning to self-monitor their speech, apply correct placement during structured practice, and generalize those skills into conversation and classroom settings. This project has not only strengthened current instruction but will continue to positively impact students as they build clearer, more confident communication skills.","fullyFundedDate":1763080479763,"projectUrl":"project/play-talk-grow-hands-on-speech-therap/9892247/","projectTitle":"Play, Talk, Grow: Hands-On Speech Therapy Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dutko","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10349005"},{"teacherId":10353991,"projectId":9904773,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom.
