The minute that the new rugs were put down in the classroom, the students were extremely excited. They absolutely love the smiley face rug. It allows for us to have so much more room to talk and engage at the carpet. Each student is able to have their own spot, and this has really helped with their behavior. Our small black rug has quickly become a favorite for reading time. They love to sit and read there as it is near our library.\r\nThe bean bag chairs are definitely a hit as well! I choose one new student every day that is able to sit in one of the chairs when we are at the carpet. They absolutely love snuggling up in the chair when they are reading. When doing partner work, I always let a pair of partners share the bean bags as well. The black cushions are also a great tool that they are able to use during partner work. \r\nAll of your donations have really created a family feel in classroom. The students are able to engage with each other easily and more comfortably. We are able to complete more partner work and group work. Our new classroom rug has already made such a difference in our first-grade community. It has become the heart of our classroom — a place where students gather each morning to share greetings, learn together during lessons, and enjoy stories read aloud. Now, each child has their own spot, which helps them sit with ease, listen attentively, and participate with confidence. The rug has also brought a sense of warmth and belonging to our classroom, making it feel more like a home away from home. We have gotten so many supplies that have given us more opportunities to learn and grow. A few favorites so far are the building blocks and chapter books! Students have been using the building blocks during morning arrival time and for when we have indoor recess, and the things students build are so fun and creative! I also have students begging to switch out books from our class library, and the books from this project are by far the most in demand, they love choosing new ones to read and enjoy. We got to get into our shared crayons and markers as well, which are always so exciting to use beyond the supplies that are kept in student desks; just another way to keep learning fun and exciting. We will continue to use these materials throughout the rest of the year (and beyond with future classes), so we are so thankful for the kindness and generosity of your donations.
