It means the world to them to know that there are people out there who genuinely care about their voices and contributions.\r\nCurrently, the students are engaged in an exciting project using colored pencils and paint sets. This initiative is inspired by meaningful song lyrics that resonate with them personally. They are encouraged to interpret these lyrics visually, developing their own imagery while incorporating the text into their compositions. This project not only allows them to express their thoughts and feelings in a variety of creative ways but also empowers them to create pieces that are uniquely theirs. It's amazing how much technology has changed how we are able to interact with our content areas over the 16 years I have been teaching!\r\nOne incredible thing that we have been able to do with this iPad is making calls to my teacher friends in France so that all of our students can have real, authentic conversations with native speakers. How different from how things were only a decade or two ago! Some of these conversations have turned into lasting friendships, and it's so fun to see how much the students enjoy this.\r\nAnother way this donation has helped is by offering alternative ways for students to speak French or English. My English language learners often feel anxious practicing English in front of an audience. Many of them come from traumatic backgrounds, and by allowing them to record their speaking assignments instead of forcing them in front of the classroom has diminished their anxiety and built their confidence and trust.
