We start out by listening to a chapter book read aloud, discuss what's happening daily with each other then pull it all together in a culminating writing project. We often discuss with a partner called \"turn and talk\" which helps students learn how to talk to each other about their ideas, and how to listen to each other. \r\n Once we have finished a chapter book, we take our writing through the writing process which includes; pre-writing, rough draft, editing, revising and publishing. We use our imagination to explore how to respond to the books we have read. We have written another chapter for some of our books, letters to characters in the books, and have also written journal entries pretending to be one of the characters in the story.\r\n The pens, markers, stickers and beautiful paper keeps students motivated through the writing process and is highly engaging which results in a love of learning to read and write. The erasable pens are quite reassuring for students as well. They help students who are hesitant to write in pen due to risking making mistakes on their \"pretty paper\" and having to start all over. These make it super easy to erase and correct the small error, rather than starting over which really builds up their confidence. Thank you again for supporting my students with your generous donations. We are enjoying all our materials and have seen great improvements in our reading, discussing and writing. We truly value your dedication to education and learning for all students.","fullyFundedDate":1739373774756,"projectUrl":"project/writers-workshop-for-ell-and-special-ed/9023300/","projectTitle":"Writer's Workshop for ELL and Special Ed.
