From the moment the supplies arrived, my students were eager to help. They excitedly unboxed the materials together, explored the different fidgets, and talked openly about which tools felt calming or helpful to them. It was powerful to watch students not only engage with the materials, but also begin identifying which coping strategies worked best for their own needs.\r\n\r\nWe are already using these resources daily in meaningful ways. Students now know that when they feel anxious or overwhelmed, they can independently choose a coping strategy that supports them, such as grabbing a coloring page, using a fidget, or taking a moment to ground themselves. During our time together, students are able to sort through the fidgets, try them out, and name which ones helped them focus or calm down. This simple but intentional process helped normalize self-regulation and give students confidence in managing their emotions.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building on this learning by practicing when and where different coping strategies can be used most effectively. We will have conversations about choosing tools that support them without disrupting others. For example, understanding that a quiet fidget or coloring page may be appropriate in a crowded classroom, while movement-based or louder strategies might be better used in my office or during breaks. This next step helps students develop self-awareness, decision-making skills, and respect for shared spaces. Thanks to your generosity, students are learning not just what coping strategies help them, but how and when to use them successfully in real-life situations.","fullyFundedDate":1764640901874,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-coping-skills-toolkits-for-stud/9908669/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Coping Skills Toolkits for Student Wellness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Keck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10257906_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758335170039","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10257906"},{"teacherId":9827397,"projectId":9921241,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, Calm Corner Essentials: Sensory Supports for Student Well-Being has become an important part of our daily classroom routine. Students use the calm corner when emotions feel overwhelming, during moments of anxiety, or when they need a brief reset before continuing their learning. The sensory tools allow students to regulate themselves independently—whether that means squeezing a stress ball, using calming visuals, or sitting quietly to breathe and refocus—so they can return to class ready to engage.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were immediately excited and deeply appreciative. Several students shared that they finally felt \"understood\" and relieved to have a space designed for their emotional needs. Others were simply eager to explore the tools and asked thoughtful questions about how and when to use them responsibly. That first moment made it clear how much this space was needed.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, students are better able to manage stress, stay present, and persist through challenging tasks.
