We have used the pianos in almost every class that I teach (K-8) and the way the students' faces light up when they see them is such a joy to see!\r\n\r\nStarting with who I was targeting with this project, when I told my middle schoolers that the project had been funded they were so excited! They began asking every question imaginable and couldn't come to class without asking about an update on when they would be here. They were more willing to learn about things like music notation, how to read music, and music theory because they knew it would be put into practice on a fun instrument! Flash forward to the day they arrived, they walked into my classroom first period and could barely wait for me to get batteries into them, they were so impatient to get their hands on them. From then on, they learned multiple songs and some went above and beyond to find pop songs and transcribe them so they could play them.\r\n\r\nMy music club students have also been using the pianos as a way to learn nursery rhymes and short songs. They love playing any instruments, but if I give them a choice they almost always choose the pianos. These instruments have created a new opportunity for my students to learn and I know they will be a useful tool for many years to come. They help me engage students that have never engaged in my class before, and for that, I am so grateful.
