We use them daily during our morning meeting and reading block. One of my favorite moments so far was watching two students, who usually struggle to stay focused, settle into the chairs with their books and read quietly for almost the entire reading time. The gentle rocking has helped create a calming space for students who need movement to stay engaged.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve incorporating the rocking chairs into our social-emotional routines. Students will be using them during partner reading, calming breaks, and reflection time. We're also starting a unit on narrative writing, and the chairs will serve as our special \"author's seat,\" where students can sit comfortably while sharing their stories with the class.
