Our school is a small school in the heart of an Amish community in Sugarcreek Ohio. Many of my students have not had the opportunity to do very much STEM in the course of their school career and coding is very foreign to them. Being able to first learn the coding process myself and then bring that into the classroom for students to be engaged has had a tremendous impact on my student, and the district as a whole. Because of the ability to get this time of project funded, I have successfully been able to incorporate a new Robotics program as part of our district curriculum for the coming year. It is because of donors like you that I have been able to provide this type of learning environment for my students. Thank you so much for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1741320072969,"projectUrl":"project/arduino-coding/9117581/","projectTitle":"Arduino Coding","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morosko","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707144"},{"teacherId":9707144,"projectId":8704370,"letterContent":"This is my first year teaching at Garaway High School, and as part of my responsibilities, I teach an 8th-grade rotation class every quarter. When I was assigned this class, I was given the task of creating a new curriculum. My goal was to develop a program that would inspire students to engage with science and demonstrate how the concepts they learn can be applied in the real world.\r\nAfter careful consideration, I chose to introduce them to SCRATCH, a coding platform that teaches programming through game development. This unique program not only fosters creativity but also encourages problem-solving. To make the experience even more interactive, I incorporated MAKEY MAKEY, a technology that allows students to build circuits and control their games using everyday objects. The MAKEY MAKEY component has been invaluable, offering students the opportunity to explore the basics of circuits while deepening their understanding of technology.\r\nThanks to your support through the DonorsChoose program, I was able to secure enough MAKEY MAKEY kits for every student in the class. Many of my students have never coded before, and for many, this is their first introduction to this kind of technology. The impact has been incredible—students are not only learning valuable technical skills but also gaining confidence in their ability to apply this knowledge in future academic endeavors.\r\nIntegrating this program into my classroom has been a tremendous success, and I truly cannot thank you enough for partnering with me to make this curriculum a reality. Your generosity is making a lasting impact on my students' education.","fullyFundedDate":1726944156203,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-coding-and-electronics-proje/8704370/","projectTitle":"Interactive Coding and Electronics Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morosko","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707144"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42452","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":435,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":90.9,"schoolId":42452,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Garaway 7 - 12 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Garaway 7 - 12 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/garaway-local-school-district/garaway-high-school/42452"}
