They were able to work with the family math activities together while I could to teach each group how to use the activities. They worked on a variety of math skills. They worked on making patterns, greater than/less than and equal to, counting, putting numbers in order, addition and subtraction. I can now put these items on our math shelf so they can independently work with them and improve their math knowledge. These items have really helped their social skills as well. The math conversations are incredible to hear as well as watching them share, take turns and ask each other for help. The hygiene kits are kept in a discreet, accessible space so students can use them as needed, and families can request them when necessary. Having these essentials readily available helps remove a quiet but significant barrier to learning, allowing students to focus more fully on their work and participation in class.\r\nStudents can feel reassured knowing these items are available without judgment or embarrassment. For many, this support boosts their confidence and comfort at school, helping them feel more prepared, secure, and ready to take on the day.\r\nWith their basic needs supported, students are more present, more willing to collaborate, and better able to concentrate on current lessons and long-term goals. These hygiene kits are more than supplies, they represent dignity, care, and a powerful reminder that people beyond our classroom believe in them and want them to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1766700440938,"projectUrl":"project/helping-students-thrive-with-basic-needs/9919742/","projectTitle":"Helping Students Thrive With Basic Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hinke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7767927_orig.jpg?crop=1638,1638,x0,y169&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764077091118","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7767927"},{"teacherId":8471413,"projectId":9855459,"letterContent":"My fourth-grade students and I have loved using all of our new materials donated through this project. We immediately set expectations for each item, so they can stay like-new as long as possible for many classes to come. \r\n\r\nI use the magnetic math manipulatives each day during whole group math instruction. It has inspired students to use their math manipulatives to solve problems on their own as well. Students feel so much pride in leading the class in our daily math journal while getting to use our new colored, magnetic dry-erase markers. Furthermore, the dry-erase clipboards have allowed students to engage in problem-solving strategies while using flexible seating options around the room, as well as take lessons outside for more hands-on experiences! The storage cart has become a home for all of our classroom math manipulatives, which makes locating and accessing them very quick and easy for myself, paraprofessionals, intervention specialist, and students.","fullyFundedDate":1761876363075,"projectUrl":"project/math-instruction/9855459/","projectTitle":"Math Instruction","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Robinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8471413_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753142131376","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8471413"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85631","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1060,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"34.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":63.8,"schoolId":85631,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fostoria Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fostoria Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/fostoria-city-school-district/fostoria-intermediate-elementary-school/85631"}
