The excitement of being recognized helps reinforce that their positive choices and hard work are noticed and appreciated.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this project has been seeing students who may struggle with behavior become excited about making positive choices and earning recognition. The prize cart provides an immediate opportunity to celebrate students who are following expectations, helping others, showing responsibility, or making a positive change. As we continue our PBIS program, we are using these rewards as one part of a larger effort to help students understand that positive behavior, responsibility, and respect are important skills both in school and in life. When the new gloves arrived, my students were excited to see that they had their own supplies to use while preparing orders. We immediately used them during our Falcon Fuel work, and I was able to teach students that wearing gloves, keeping their work area clean, and following food safety procedures are important parts of being a responsible employee. Students take their jobs seriously because they know they are serving real customers in our school. Every order gives them an opportunity to practice following directions, preparing a product, interacting with a customer, and completing a job from beginning to end.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building Falcon Fuel into an authentic workplace experience. Students will continue taking orders, preparing and delivering products, handling money, restocking inventory, and cleaning our work area. We are also connecting their work to our classroom economy, where students earn paychecks and practice managing checking and savings accounts, paying bills, and saving for items they want. These experiences help students understand that their work has value and that the skills they are practicing today can help them become more independent adults. My students have very different learning needs, abilities, and goals, so having access to materials that can be adapted to their individual levels has been incredibly valuable. I am able to find resources that provide visual supports, simplified directions, repeated practice, and real-life activities that make learning more meaningful for my students. These materials allow students to practice important skills such as money management, communication, job readiness, daily living skills, and independence in ways that are appropriate for their individual abilities.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is having activities that feel connected to their real lives rather than simply completing traditional worksheets. They especially enjoy materials that allow them to practice skills they will actually use at home, at work, and in the community. I have also seen students who typically need significant teacher support become more willing to attempt activities independently when the materials are presented in a clear, engaging, and accessible way. The resources from this project have helped me provide more opportunities for students to experience success, build confidence, and recognize that they are capable of learning and doing things for themselves.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful for the donors who made this project possible. For many of my students, having a tangible item they want to work toward makes the concepts of earning, saving, spending, and making choices much easier to understand. Students are learning that their paycheck is something they earn through their work and that they have choices about how they use their money.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the candy bars as part of our ongoing financial literacy lessons. Students practice looking at their paychecks, determining what they can spend, deciding whether to purchase a candy bar or save their money, and understanding that spending money means having less available for future purchases. These simple, repeated experiences provide real opportunities to practice budgeting, decision-making, and delayed gratification. Our next step is to continue building on these skills by having students set savings goals and make plans for how they want to use their earnings. These are skills that will transfer directly to future jobs and life at home. The students were so excited when I brought out the supplies of fresh new markers, sharpies, scenery paper, etc. The students will be using the supplies to create scenes for the musicals that they wrote. \r\n\r\nThey created at least 6 \"mock-up\" scenes for their musical and now they are going to take their \"mock-ups' and put them on big scenery paper to be hung on the traveling board for easy access in changing them during the musical performance.\r\n\r\nThe scenes are created by the 6th and 7th grade choir members, preparing them for their 8th grade choir year when they will be putting together the big spring musical! The students always look forward to the spring musical their 8th grade year!
