Whether it's designing advertisements for our classroom business, practicing math and money skills, or completing interactive lessons, they are motivated and proud of what they accomplish. Several students who typically struggle with attention and engagement have especially warmed to these new materials—they are more confident, focused, and eager to participate than ever before.\r\n\r\nThe technology and resources from Teachers Pay Teachers allow students to learn in a way that meets their individual needs. The students were so excited when the supplies arrived—they immediately wanted to open the boxes, stack the cups, and try fitting on the lids. Having the right materials not only helps the shop run smoothly but also makes our students feel like they are operating a \"real\" business, which motivates them to take pride in their work.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment came during our first coffee shop day with the new supplies. A student who had been nervous about serving drinks before confidently prepared an order, secured the lid, and handed it to a teacher with a big smile, saying, \"Here's your coffee!\" That sense of accomplishment is exactly what this project is all about—helping students build independence, communication, and job skills that will support them in the future. The funds raised from the coffee shop sales go directly toward off-site vocational learning experiences, where students get to explore local businesses, practice budgeting, and see workplace skills in action.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include expanding our menu with seasonal drinks and teaching students how to manage larger orders and track sales. These items make it possible for students to bake treats safely and successfully, while also learning how to prepare, package, and present products for sale in our school coffee shop.\r\n\r\nOne special moment came when our class worked together to bake muffins using the new cups. Each student had a role—measuring, mixing, rolling, or packaging—and when the treats were ready to be placed in the clear bags for sale, they were beaming with pride. These small but meaningful steps give students confidence and independence, while also preparing them for real-world experiences. The profits from these sales go directly toward off-site vocational opportunities, such as visiting local grocery stores and restaurants where students can expand their skills in community settings.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include experimenting with new recipes, rotating baking responsibilities, and teaching students to track sales and inventory as part of running the coffee shop. Thanks to your support, we were able to stock up on fun, motivating items like Squishmallows, candy, and chips—things that bring not only joy, but also meaningful learning opportunities for my students with significant disabilities.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. One student exclaimed, \"Is that really for us?!\" The Squishmallows quickly became a favorite, and we even had to create a special display shelf where students could proudly show off what they earned through hard work and great behavior.\r\n\r\nWe're using these incentives as part of our classroom behavior and vocational training program. Students earn paychecks by completing daily tasks, practicing positive social skills, and meeting individualized goals. It's been amazing to see how motivated they are—making purchases and even budgeting their money for which reward they want to work toward next. These are real-world skills that will help them succeed in future job settings and independent living.\r\n\r\nOne specific project we've tied into this system is our \"Falcon Fuel\" coffee shop where students apply for and rotate through different jobs including barista, delivery, and baker.
