Because of your kindness, my students now have access to a richer and more diverse selection of books that will deepen their understanding of literature and prepare them for success on the AP Exam. These new texts have already sparked meaningful conversations in class—students are comparing themes, analyzing authorial choices, and connecting the literature to real-world experiences in ways that simply weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than fill our classroom shelves; it has helped create a community of readers who see themselves and the world reflected in the stories they study. Many of my students are discovering authors and voices that challenge and inspire them, and several have shared that they now read beyond class assignments just for the joy of it. Some have even requested more book by certain authors! Your contribution is helping to build not only stronger analytical thinkers but lifelong readers.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for your support and belief in the power of literature to open minds and shape futures. Students are thoroughly enjoying the new seating options, especially in our new and improved reading corner. Having options that are comfortable allow students to explore choice and take ownership in their learning. I teach many students who don't always have the opportunities to make their own choices, and they appreciate a beautiful, inclusive learning environment so much!\r\n\r\nI enjoy rewarding their hard work with game days and structured activities, so the new Uno cards will be appreciated as we move towards our first Free Friday. In addition, the colored paper is always a hit making activities such as a tone word search organized and easy to see. I also use the bright paper to organize stations by color, and directions for those stations.\r\n\r\nThe Lego base plates and PlayDoh will be coming out soon as the students are challenged to create scenes from The Crucible during our second unit. It was a hit last year so I am excited, with your generosity, to expand this kinesthetic learning.\r\n\r\nIt is with your kindness that these wonderful learning moments will continue to take place in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1747661758703,"projectUrl":"project/making-ela-learning-come-to-life/9267033/","projectTitle":"Making ELA Learning Come to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Swint","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10004258_orig.jpg?crop=952,952,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754608049362","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10004258"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85203","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":784,"numTeachers":58,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":74,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":85203,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about David Ponitz Career Technology Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"David Ponitz Career Technology Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/dayton-public-school-district/patterson-career-center/85203"}
