I was very impressed and excited about their learning and progress. \r\n\r\nWe all know literacy and math skills are imperative to having a solid learning foundation. Our classroom is made up of 3rd- to 6th-graders with varying disabilities. Therefore, our students' success and motivation look different from those in a general education classroom. It takes more specific motivators to keep our students engaged and promote success in and out of the classroom. Therefore, the items you provided will help individual students to engage in the classroom. I can't thank you enough for the supplies and the smiles it has brought to our classroom family.\r\nWhen we opened the fidget box, all the students squealed and immediately started to pick a fidget. It was so fun to explore each student's interests by seeing which fidget they picked. These fidgets were very useful over the last couple of months of school, helping keep students regulated and engaged during lessons, which can be a huge struggle in our room. Another huge need was met by providing headphones. This way, our students can use their iPads without 8 other iPads communicating different things, which can cause confusion and dysregulation for many of our students. The carpet has also been a game-changer for morning meetings, as students now have a comfortable place to sit and engage in the lesson. Overall, we have seen a huge increase in student involvement throughout our classroom.\r\nManipulatives are a huge need in our room, since our students range in academic abilities. Having math manipulatives is very helpful during our stations and whole group lessons. The money engages our students in a meaningful way, as we can use our cash register so students can practice buying items and providing change when needed. The money has incorporated many life skills that will make our students successful in the community. These life skills include: job skills, money management, and money recognition. The analog clock has also enhanced our students' life skills practice by helping them recognize the similarities between analog and digital clocks. \r\nAs any child, it can be hard to regulate their emotions. Therefore, having a disability can make it even harder to regulate or share how they feel. Having the social skills board game has helped our students improve their emotional regulation. Additionally, it has increased their appropriate peer interactions around the classroom, school, and community. Just the game itself helps students learn how to share and take turns, a great life skill. The feelings chart provides the same practice and skills of social-emotional regulation. Our students who struggle with words when upset or angry can use the chart to help staff guide them through their emotions and help them regulate. \r\nThe impact of all these materials has been tremendous in our room; the evidence is evident in each individual student's happiness with specific materials. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity in providing supplies to support our students' success in and out of the classroom. It may seem like a small impact, but these materials will help provide life skills that will support our students in their future endeavors, contributing to society in the best way they can.","fullyFundedDate":1773866169332,"projectUrl":"project/ms-ws-classroom-staples-to-make-school/9926457/","projectTitle":"Ms. W’s Classroom Staples to Make School Successful","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. W","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10362008_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764116138836","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10362008"},{"teacherId":9143938,"projectId":9608004,"letterContent":"I was very very happy to receive your generous donations. When opening the boxes my preschoolers faces lit up and they were so happy. Getting new materials for the class is fun for them. The materials were to enhance their fine and gross motor abilities. In addition, I ordered Crayola curtains. There curtains served to block out the light in my classroom during nap time. \r\n\r\nThe students had fun using the materials on the floor and at the table. A lot of problem solving and social play took place in the classroom. I enjoy watching my students happiness. \r\n\r\nMy next project, hopefully will support their growth over the school year. The SEL materials and snacks provided have played a meaningful role in supporting the purpose of our group, which focuses on developing leadership, communication skills, and academic confidence in young men who often need additional encouragement and space to grow. The resources supplied have not only helped maintain student engagement, but have also created a consistent, welcoming environment where students feel seen, supported, and willing to participate.\r\n\r\nEach week, the lessons are designed to guide the boys through real-life social and emotional challenges—both inside and outside of school—while reinforcing accountability, problem-solving, and positive peer interaction. Having equitable access to materials and snacks has removed barriers that often limit participation, allowing every student to fully benefit from the experience, regardless of background or circumstance. This project has helped create a sense of belonging and fairness within the group, reminding students that they are deserving of support while they work toward becoming leaders in both school and life.\r\n\r\nThank you for contributing to a program that strengthens not only skills, but dignity, confidence, and community for our students.\r\n\r\nSincerely,\r\nJoyce Hall\r\nSchool Social Worker\r\nSilverton Elementary School","fullyFundedDate":1757683135788,"projectUrl":"project/equity-in-every-bite/9602611/","projectTitle":"Equity in Every Bite","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9576610"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84321","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":301,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":78,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"27.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.5,"schoolId":84321,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Silverton Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Silverton Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/cincinnati-public-schools/silverton-paideia-school/84321"}
