Your support is helping to build a culture of reading in our classroom, where students are not only improving their literacy skills but also discovering the joy of independent reading. These books have sparked curiosity, broadened perspectives, and given our students the confidence to engage with stories in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, we are already seeing an increase in reading motivation and comprehension scores. Students who once hesitated to pick up a book are now eager to dive into new stories, discuss what they've read, and recommend books to their peers. Your contribution is making a lasting impact, shaping young minds, and fostering a love of reading that will benefit them far beyond the classroom. Thank you for investing in our students' futures—your generosity is truly inspiring.","fullyFundedDate":1734712103924,"projectUrl":"project/help-middle-schoolers-fall-in-love-with/8799364/","projectTitle":"Help Middle Schoolers Fall in Love with Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dehn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8626349_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1674833365116","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8626349"},{"teacherId":5650618,"projectId":8722165,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding this project. \r\n\r\nThe addition of text-to-speech pens to our classroom has been transformative, particularly for my scholars with disabilities and multilingual learners. These innovative tools allow students to independently scan text and listen to it in English or their native language. This feature has significantly reduced barriers to comprehension, enabling all scholars to access grade-level content with greater ease. Scholars who previously struggled to engage with written materials due to language barriers or reading disabilities now participate more confidently in class discussions and activities. \r\n\r\nThese pens have also fostered a sense of independence and self-efficacy among my students. For example, students with dyslexia or other learning disabilities no longer need to wait for one-on-one assistance to decode challenging words or passages. Instead, they can independently use the pens to support their reading. For multilingual learners, the ability to hear the text in both their native language and English has accelerated their language acquisition, helping them build vocabulary and develop fluency. The pens have also allowed these students to better understand and connect with classroom content, improving their academic performance and boosting their confidence. \r\n\r\nOverall, the introduction of text-to-speech pens has made my classroom more inclusive and equitable. By providing scholars with tools that meet their individual needs, I have seen increased participation, improved comprehension, and a greater love for learning. These pens have not only leveled the playing field but have also inspired a renewed enthusiasm for reading and learning among my scholars. They are no longer limited by their challenges but empowered by their ability to overcome them.","fullyFundedDate":1728795532366,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-readers-bringing-text-to-spe/8722165/","projectTitle":"Empowering Readers: Bringing Text to Speech Technology to Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McConnell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5650618_orig.png?crop=1544,1545,x0,y66&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724976455446","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5650618"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84304","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":295,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":41,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 7","studentTeacherRatio":"21.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.1,"schoolId":84304,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mount Washington School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mount Washington School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/cincinnati-public-schools/mt-washington-school/84304"}
