They get super excited every time they receive a yummy snack that helps fuel their minds and bodies for our time together after school. During our first session, every student was able to indulge in a popcorn, slim jim, or pringles snack before our discussion on Artificial Intelligence. Student engagement during STEM club is at its peak when students do not have to worry about being hungry. \r\n\r\nOur next steps in STEM club is to prepare students to design 3D printed cars that we'll present at the University of Cincinnati's 3D Printers Showcase. Students will use the Engineering Design Process to develop a 3D printed car and refine it as needed. Students will continue to be fully engaged in STEM club because they know they'll have a snack to keep them going throughout our time together. The students immediately noticed the new additions to the STEM lab and were elated to hear that they were donated to our STEM classroom. The students were super excited to see the new seat covers and cushions, which helped to make our classroom environment a much more welcoming place to learn. The black seat covers are being used on the STEM lab stools and the comfy cushions are on the rug in our STEM books library area. \r\n\r\nThe students were very eager to sit on the cushions on the rug, which provided them a place to feel comfortable while reading books about different STEM topics in our library. An upcoming project will be for students to spend a portion of class time on a weekly basis immersed in reading more about STEM careers that interest them. The students will create a presentation using a digital app about a STEM career that they'd like to pursue and they will communicate their findings with their classmates. In addition, the students will share their presentations with students in lower grades to hopefully influence the younger students to want to learn more about STEM.","fullyFundedDate":1745156487149,"projectUrl":"project/comfy-seats-to-encourage-reading-in-my-s/9233107/","projectTitle":"Comfy Seats to Encourage Reading in My STEM Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lyles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5358460_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721397784501","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-leslie-lyles"},{"teacherId":9072506,"projectId":8588939,"letterContent":"My students have benefitted so much from this generous donation. The variety and challenge of the puzzles helped maintain interest and motivation, leading to increased participation and a stronger sense of accomplishment. Also, they will use 3D printing software to design and print school logo keychains.
