Families gathered on the turf with blankets and books in hand, celebrating the joy of reading in a space that usually holds Friday night lights and athletic competition. This time, our students were the stars, showing that literacy and learning shine just as bright as any game under the stadium lights.\r\n\r\nOur safety forces made the evening even sweeter by passing out ice cream sundaes, bringing smiles to every child's face. The combination of books, community, and a special treat made for an unforgettable night. Students were excited not only to read outside of the classroom but also to share their favorite stories with friends and family in such a unique setting. Many commented that it was \"so cool\" to read on the same field where they watch or play sports.\r\n\r\nEvents like this remind our students that reading doesn't just belong in the classroom, it can be a joyful part of everyday life. With the Cuyahoga County Public Library Brooklyn Branch, families also learned more about summer reading programs, helping keep the love of learning alive even when school is out.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our students is carrying this energy and excitement for reading back into their classrooms and homes. Thanks to you, our donors, we are able to create experiences that connect learning with community in meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1742944786137,"projectUrl":"project/our-school-reads-at-the-stadium/9180035/","projectTitle":"Our School Reads! These books have already made a significant difference in my classroom. Many of my students struggle with reading but love engaging with stories that match their interests and reading levels. The decodable books have helped build their confidence by reinforcing key phonics skills and sight words in a structured, accessible way. They practice decoding strategies, fluency, and comprehension as they read—essential building blocks for becoming independent readers.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom is filled with excitement as students eagerly reach for books they can successfully read independently. One of the biggest thrills has been seeing their enthusiasm for chapter books written at their level. Many of my students have longed to read \"big kid\" books, and thanks to your generosity, they finally have engaging chapter books they can truly enjoy. One student, who previously felt discouraged by too difficult books, now proudly reads aloud to peers, smiling as they decode each word. Another has discovered a love for reading because these books allow them to experience the joy of finishing a story independently. Your support has given them a sense of accomplishment and the motivation to keep going.","fullyFundedDate":1733255549155,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-literacy-decodable-books-for/8938480/","projectTitle":"Empowering Literacy: Decodable Books for Confident Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marquis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9833391_orig.jpg?crop=400,400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731384248209","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9833391"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62031","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":667,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 7","studentTeacherRatio":"35.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.7,"schoolId":62031,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brooklyn School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brooklyn School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/brooklyn-city-school-district/brooklyn-middle-school/62031"}
