I have never done anything like this before and did not think I would reach my goal, but this site made me a believer and helped bring my vision to life for our students. \r\n\r\nOur family reading night was a huge success! We hade over 50 families represented on a Thursday evening, who each participated in activities related to the books from our reading book bracket. Because of donors, each station had a set of books for families to read and for parents to vote and show which was their favorite. The winning book was announced to students the following day, with parents finding out the winning book at the end of the school day on Friday. \r\n\r\nOur library now has 2 copies of each book for students to check out weekly. I love it when students see me as they are heading from library and hold their books up to show me the titles they've chosen from our bracket. Friends are choosing the same books so they can reread the stories together and enjoy talking about them. In fact, during lunch, students were debating the book they really wanted to win and asking me for my opinion to see if I agreed or disagreed with them. How fun to be invited into discussions about books!\r\n\r\nAdditionally, classroom teachers were able to select a copy to keep in their rooms for students to read and enjoy. Teachers, along with myself, are using the books to create opportunities for students to write more. Using the Hochman Method, teachers have implemented the because, but, so activity and sentence writing expansion activities. Student engagement and interest have increased as they revisit the stories to offer their responses. \r\n\r\nAgain, I cannot thank you enough for your support and for the donors who chose to support this endeavor. I am forever grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1746754989053,"projectUrl":"project/march-book-madness-a-competition-where/9100036/","projectTitle":"March Book Madness; a Competition Where Books Always Win!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Meriweather","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9916927"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_85794","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":231,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":55,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":85794,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Glover Community Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Glover Community Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/akron-public-schools/glover-elementary-school/85794"}
