Through this project, I was able to equip all faculty with trauma-coping resources, provide resiliency tools to every student, and introduce flexible seating options in every classroom—helping to create an environment where healing and learning can take place side by side.\r\n\r\nI will never forget our first faculty meeting after the storm, almost two months later. As teachers gathered for the first time since that life-changing day in September, there was a collective sense of exhaustion but also an overwhelming gratitude when these resources were introduced. Knowing that we had the tools to support our students emotionally and academically gave us a renewed sense of purpose. These resources allowed us to guide our students—many of whom lost homes, stability, and a sense of normalcy—back into the classroom with understanding and care.\r\n\r\nNow, nearly five months later, our district is still struggling to recover. Since the storm, we have only managed to complete one full week of school without disruption. The road to stability has been long and uncertain, but the materials funded through this project continue to provide a foundation of support for students and staff alike. The trauma-informed resources are helping students develop resilience in the face of ongoing challenges, and the flexible seating has transformed our classrooms into spaces of comfort and adaptability, where students can focus on learning despite the instability around them.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project truly special is its lasting impact. These tools are not just for today; they will serve our students for semesters and years to come. As our district rebuilds, these resources will remain a beacon of support for future students facing adversity, ensuring that long after the storm has passed, its lessons in strength and recovery will continue to shape the lives of young learners. Your generosity has created a legacy of resilience in our community, and for that, we are endlessly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1731859402288,"projectUrl":"project/navigating-recovery-resources-for-stude/8887948/","projectTitle":"Navigating Recovery: Resources for Students Post-Hurricane Helene","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Laws","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6502531_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y671&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729185206357","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6502531"},{"teacherId":9473467,"projectId":8948719,"letterContent":"What can a special education teacher do with her students on days when the daily schedule changes and we cannot utilize the gym for PE sessions?
