Your generous donations of fidgets, snacks, and sanitizing wipes have made a meaningful difference in our students' daily learning experience.\r\nStudents use the fidgets during lessons, independent work, and assessments to help manage stress and stay focused—especially during longer problem-solving tasks. Snacks are available for students who arrive hungry or need extra energy during challenging lessons, helping them stay engaged and ready to learn. The snacks were also used for rewards when students went above and beyond. The sanitizing wipes are used daily to clean desks, calculators, and shared supplies, promoting a healthy and responsible classroom environment.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were excited and grateful. Several asked if the supplies were really for them, and many thanked me right away. One memorable moment occurred during the teacher-led part of a lesson. One of my student who is always sleeping the class used a fidget to stay awake and focused which led to him participating in the lesson and understanding the concept. A few other students requested fidgets to use during the lesson. The room was noticeably more engaged and collaborative. If I see a student disengaged or a bit hyperactive, I would walk by and quietly hand them a fidget. This usually helps.\r\nYour support helped create a classroom where students feel cared for, focused, and ready to succeed. \r\nOne project that my students just completed was to create an Algebra portfolio with puzzles, games, comic, posters and other creative items. One meaningful moment occurred as students worked collaboratively to solve challenges, explaining their thinking and checking one another's strategies. The materials have made learning more engaging and have helped students build confidence in their problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the resources to prepare for the upcoming FIRST Robotics competition, which officially begins in January. Students meet every Wednesday after school in the robotics room for continuous training, where they explore mechanical concepts using last year's competition robot. One specific project involved students driving the robot, identifying minor mechanical issues, and using tools to troubleshoot and make repairs together.\r\n\r\nThe next step will be the actual building of a new robot based on the newly released FIRST Robotics competition mechanisms, which will be announced in January. Students are eager to apply their skills and knowledge to this new challenge, further strengthening their teamwork, mechanical awareness, and real-world problem-solving abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1757528271243,"projectUrl":"project/building-the-future-stem-and-robotics/9557095/","projectTitle":"Building the Future: STEM and Robotics","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Nemenzo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9484683_orig.png?crop=400,400,x0,y29&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723070239571","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9484683"},{"teacherId":9468774,"projectId":9216564,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students and myself, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support of our \"Bringing Ideas to Life: Tools for Tomorrow's Creative Innovators\" project. Thanks to you, our classroom has been transformed into a dynamic creative lab where ideas, imagination, and technology come together in ways that truly inspire learning. With the new tools and equipment, my students are now able to explore digital design, photography, and other hands-on skills that are essential in today's creative industries. Instead of just consuming media, they're now producing it! \r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students has been seeing their digital creations come to life. Whether they're designing a logo, their website, or creating visual campaigns, the ability to work with professional-grade tools makes them feel confident, capable, and proud of their work. I've seen their eyes light up when they realize they can edit like a designer. It's an incredible confidence boost!\r\n\r\nOne of my students, for example, had been quite shy and unsure about her career goals at the start of the year. But after learning to use the new equipment, she took the lead in her group's digital photography and magazine design project and is now seriously considering pursuing a career in media production. This transition occurred due to the absence of a Math 03 teacher for two months, leaving the students without proper instruction and support. Despite the abrupt change in my teaching assignment, I embraced the challenge and focused on fostering academic growth and development among my new students.\r\n\r\nUpon assuming the Math 03 class, I implemented strategic interventions aimed at improving students' comprehension of mathematical concepts, enhancing their problem-solving skills, and cultivating their capacity for research-based learning. These interventions included diagnostic assessments to identify learning gaps, individualized support plans, and integrating research activities into daily instruction to encourage critical thinking and independent exploration.\r\n\r\nAs a result of these efforts, the students demonstrated a remarkable improvement in their End-of-Course (EOC) assessments, achieving a 15% growth rate. This growth signifies not only their enhanced numeracy but also their increased confidence and proficiency in applying mathematical knowledge to real-world problems. Additionally, the integration of literacy components within mathematics instruction improved their ability to interpret and analyze complex texts, further developing their overall academic capabilities.\r\n\r\nThis experience underscores my commitment to ensuring student success, regardless of the challenges faced. It highlights the importance of adaptability, evidence-based teaching strategies, and the power of empowering students through a holistic approach to learning.
