While they may look like simple toys, Bee-Bots are powerful teaching tools that help students build essential skills in sequencing, problem-solving, and spatial awareness. As students program the Bee-Bots to move across mats, they're not only learning direction and logic—they're also practicing collaboration, critical thinking, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nWhat makes Bee-Bots so exciting to students is how immediately interactive and rewarding they are. There's an instant spark of curiosity the moment a student presses a button and sees the Bee-Bot follow their programmed commands. It's tangible, it's fun, and it makes abstract ideas—like algorithms and cause-and-effect—come to life right on the classroom floor.\r\n\r\nBringing robotics into our classroom has also made learning more inclusive. We've seen students who struggle with traditional learning methods thrive when given the chance to work with Bee-Bots. One student, who is often quiet during literacy lessons, lit up while leading her group in planning a path for the Bee-Bot to spell out words on a letter grid. Others have discovered a love of problem-solving and teamwork that we hadn't seen before.\r\n\r\nBy introducing robotics through Bee-Bots, we're not just teaching kids how to code—we're teaching them how to think creatively, work together, and embrace challenges. Your support has brought this engaging and empowering experience to our classroom, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1730420952870,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-explore-robotics-with-t/8477153/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Explore Robotics With These Robots","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Callahan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrshcallahan"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1895","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":403,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":27,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":1895,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Underwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Underwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/underwood-elementary-school/1895"}
