The rug and two comfy beanie chairs have transformed a small area of our classroom into a calm, inviting spot where students can read, reflect, and reset. One memorable moment was watching a student who typically struggles to stay engaged choose the beanie chair, grab a book, and settle in without being prompted. That sense of comfort helped them stay focused longer than usual.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the rug and chairs, their reactions were pure excitement. They smiled, asked if they could try them out, and immediately started talking about how \"cozy\" the space felt. For students who often associate school with stress or frustration, having a comfortable, safe place to learn made a big difference. Several students shared that it helped them feel calmer and more ready to work.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using this space as part of our daily lessons, especially during reading, reflection, and small-group instruction. We are currently working on building independent reading stamina and self-regulation skills, and this flexible seating area supports both. These resources will remain an important part of our classroom as students learn not only academic skills, but also how to manage their emotions and take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a classroom environment where students feel supported, comfortable, and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1762714425245,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-classroom-oasis-for-neurodiverse/9879534/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Classroom Oasis for Neurodiverse Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bagley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9432706_orig.jpg?crop=1046,1046,x0,y184&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762461018121","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9432706"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104304","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":897,"numTeachers":70,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.5,"schoolId":104304,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rolesville Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rolesville Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/rolesville-middle-school/104304"}
