The brand new rugs that replaced the old ones are fresh and clean, stainless, and have most importantly- have no tears in them. \r\nAreas that these rugs provided coziness to are: the library/reading center, the science center, and the circle time area. The super-soft gray rug placed in the reading center has provided a safe and warm place for friends to take a break from the wildness of the classroom. My sensory-seeking friends love to lay out on this rug and roll around, rubbing their hands and face into it. One of the jute rugs has been placed in the science center, which gives it a divide in the middle of our room and perfectly blends with the natural materials that are explored in that area. Last, but not least, the large round jute rug was placed in our circle time area and continues to be the perfect visual of gathering for us. We sing here, dance here, cozy up and read here, and so much more. \r\nMany who enter our room comment on its calm environment. This wouldn't have been possible to achieve without your help! The children were given more sensory items for our sensory box, science materials, personal desk tops for work on and other essentials for the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are so thankful for those items. The children were immediately able to use those items in the spring and we are still using those items with our new class this school year. They love the sensory materials in our sensory box. We change this with all of our themes and studies and they love to create, count, and manipulate items with their new sensory materials. The paints sticks have probably had the most use this school year because we have so many kiddos that LOVE art! \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful to have the opportunity to have new, exciting and fun items to add to our learning experiences year after year thanks to donors from Donors Choose! My students now have all of the resources in their free play manipulative area in our classroom. They LOVED the idea of earning new toys and working towards a class goal in order to add those new toys to our centers. We would work on adding one new set at a time to our classroom. The kids worked hard to reach those goals to get the new items. \r\n\r\nOur sets all included new Lego animals and then sets that they could use with those new animals. They were all SO excited to see the sets and I would put them up at large group so that they could see the set before they worked to open it and add it to our current Legos. This project took about 1 to 2 months because they would participate in kind acts to \"earn\" coins toward the new toy but this was done in a class form so we observed and noticed those kind acts and would add to their coins as we saw those kinds acts. They counted coins with us at large group and we worked toward that final goal each time to add the new Lego set. \r\nWe are so thankful for your donations to make this happen for our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1727145946218,"projectUrl":"project/pay-to-play/8815198/","projectTitle":"Pay to Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kallam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4615372_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661438052454","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rebecca-kallam"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3378","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":498,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.1,"schoolId":3378,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Western Rockingham Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Western Rockingham Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/rockingham-county-school-district/western-rockingham-middle-school/3378"}
