The students are absolutely thrilled with the organization and accessibility they now have to the classroom library. Each child has their own designated book bin filled with books suited to their reading level and interests. This setup allows them to easily choose a book that matches their current reading ability, and they love having a special space to keep their books safe. During independent reading time, the students excitedly dive into their bins, excited to explore new stories and characters.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments with the new bins happened during a recent reading project. We were working on a unit about animals, and each student had a specific animal to research. The book bins provided a treasure trove of resources, and it was so heartwarming to see the kids so engaged in their research. They used the books from their bins to gather information and even share interesting facts with their classmates. Their faces lit up when they found a book that had just the right details for their project. It's clear that the new bins are not only helping with independent reading but also fostering a deeper love for learning and curiosity about the world around them.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next steps for our students will involve creating a visual presentation about the animals they researched. Using the knowledge they gathered from their book bins, they will work on illustrating their animals and preparing a short oral report to share with the class. The new resources have made this project much smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved. We use it for morning meetings, story time, and group activities. One of the most special moments has been during our reading circle, where the students gather on the rug to listen to a story and engage in discussion. The cozy and colorful rug creates a welcoming space for everyone, making it easier for the students to focus and participate. It also gives them a sense of ownership and comfort as they come together as a class to share ideas and ask questions.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new rug, their faces lit up with excitement! They couldn't wait to sit down on the soft, vibrant surface. Several students even commented on how it felt like their own little space, which encouraged them to be more engaged in our lessons. The rug not only brought a sense of joy but also helped in organizing our class activities. It made transitioning from one task to another smoother, with each child knowing exactly where to sit.\r\n\r\nAs for next steps, we're currently working on a project where students are creating their own storybooks, and the rug has become a hub for brainstorming and collaboration. They are using the space to share their ideas, read aloud to each other, and provide feedback on each other's work. This project will help them practice their writing and communication skills, while also fostering a sense of community in the classroom. We're excited to see how this new resource continues to enhance both their learning and our class culture!","fullyFundedDate":1728259072064,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-classroom-rug-for-growing-first-gra/8859973/","projectTitle":"Cozy Classroom Rug for Growing First Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nance","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7959059"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3261","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":355,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":27,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":76.4,"schoolId":3261,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Archdale Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Archdale Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/randolph-county-school-district/archdale-elementary-school/3261"}
