These materials were funded 100% by you, and we are all so appreciative. \r\n\r\nIn this activity, students took on the role of Puritans who wanted to escape the hysteria that had taken over Salem. They worked in small groups to complete a series of puzzles combining logical skills and content-based review. Their first puzzle contained a plot review of the story, and from there, each group progressed through a series of locked boxes, hidden clues, and coded messages to practice skills such as character development, theme, nonfiction elements, allegory, etc. \r\n\r\nMy students had so much fun in this activity, and they all successfully \"escaped\" hysteria, collaborating with their group members, competing with other groups, and simply enjoying being in class, which works miracles in the heart of this teacher. In fact, all three of my classes requested another escape room for another unit later in the semester!\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students, thank you for suppling these resources for this activity. For myself, thank you not only for the resources, but for supporting me as I try to do what is right for my students while living on a teacher's salary.
