When the rug arrived, the students were shocked! As we unwrapped it, they gasped and immediately fell in love with the colors and the designated space it provided for each of them. The students love coming to our carpet! As we have started reorganizing our library, these bins have made such a big difference! We started with our picture book section and the bins from this project were enough to transform about half of our collection. I have noticed a huge difference in the way that students are drawn to the books that are in the bins. When the covers of the books are facing out on the shelves, the students go towards them first. No more shelves of spines! The students are finding books that they didn't know we had and they think that the books are brand new, even though some of them have been here for years. These bins really allow the books to shine in our space! Going forward, we will start on the fiction books using the smaller bins we got from this project, and we will be writing another project to secure more bins to finish the picture books section. Because of your donations, we were able to have the supplies that we needed at the end of the school year to give our students a fresh finish. The soap, paper towels, tissues and wipes were essential in keeping our classroom and our students clean, especially during peak allergy season and through our end of the year testing. The dry erase markers were very beneficial as we completed our review for the end of grade testing. Our old markers were drying out and no good, so having fresh markers made it easier for students to work out problems and finish up the year.
