Every student who walks into my room, exclaims, \"Ahhh! A boat!!\" And immediately lay climbs in to try it out! They have been a huge hit. Some of my kids opt to do their work in the boat rather than at the desk. I thought it would exclusively be an OT activity, but because our ST and I share a work space, I've also seen her use it for language development with \"Row Your Boat\", and have started incorporating that into my sessions with my nonverbal kids as well! We go fishing with our fishing rods for fine and visual more integration activities, and talk about the sea creatures we find. They have all been very (surprisingly) good about sharing space in the boat, too!\r\n\r\nI've been able to use the file folders to develop visuals for my students which teachers can easily scan and access.\r\n\r\nI have a student who bites/eats the erasers off of the pencils, so I've used the clear pencil tubes to give her something safer to chew while also deterring her from the eraser! Huge success there! \r\n\r\nMany kids don't like to sit still for fine motor projects and generally require significant sensory breaks to get through one. The weighted blanket has helped me extend their sitting tolerance from 1 min up to 10 mins! I taught beading with the cheerio bowls, and the kids and I laughed the whole time, as they tried to sneak bites while I \"wasn't looking\" it was great to see my picky eaters playing with, and eating their food, while also learning a non-preferred skill! We also used (are using) them to practice using tools like tongs and tweezers for object transfer to grow their muscles while they eat and have fun!\r\n\r\nI introduced the vibrating pillow to a deregulated student, and he took it, held it to his chest and face, and then went and laid down in the tent. It was beautiful—like magic! I have since bought a starry night projector to go in the tent that I think will make it a truly magical spot!\r\n\r\nI've even taken the boxes that they all came in to facilitate fine motor games and activities! Not a single part of this order has gone/will go to waste! All of these donations helped our very busy school year run smoothly. I am so grateful for your generosity. \r\n\r\nThe twistable crayons were incredibly useful for our art projects all year long. More importantly they saved all of our ears because we had minimal pencil sharpening:) Similarly life-saving were the cushions for the chairs. These made our classroom much more comfortable and our small-group table a great place to sit for lessons.\r\n\r\nThe hard plastic folders helped me organize kids' projects and keep my upper-graders' work organized throughout the year - especially when they had to transfer work from class to class.\r\n\r\nFinally, the tissues helped us get through some terrible months of all the school illnesses you can think of.
