I often use CI (comprehensible input) to teach Spanish. Having engaging, level appropriate texts gives me meaningful ways to bring in CI to the classroom. The stories help me stay in the target language and student choice gives buy in.\r\n\r\nMy students are genuinely interested in the stories they read, more confident, and eager to participate. These books give us a shared world to talk about. We were able to put together a starter film kit for the students to have a hands on opportunity to learn how to use real digital film equipment. They are deep into pre production in their project proposals. \r\n\r\nEach student created a movie pitch and presented it to the class. This included plot, twist, drawings of key scenes, poster art for promotion, costumes, props, music choice, etc. The students are now converting their pitch to a script written in screenwriting format. When they are finished we will choose 2 to film and every student will have a role. \r\n\r\nTo prepare for filming the students are also learning how to storyboard, which involves drawing every single shot in a scene with labels for movement, shot type and camera action. We also have a 3 point lighting challenge the students are working on how to use the lighting equipment and camera to accurately replicate a shot from a film. This teaches the student that beautiful work takes time and attention to detail. This is an ongoing project and experiment and I'd love to keep you informed on how it evolves.","fullyFundedDate":1755656097219,"projectUrl":"project/filmmaking-for-kids-camera-lighting-an/9576385/","projectTitle":"Filmmaking for Kids: Camera, Lighting and Sound Equipment Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Root","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10169604_orig.jpg?crop=419,419,x1,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754944918969","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10169604"},{"teacherId":3614188,"projectId":8993867,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution. Having crew T Shirts has made us feel more cohesive as a group after being out of school due to Hurricane Helene for so long. It has been a hard year for us, all of our lives essentially stopped, students had no power for weeks, no water for weeks, and no school for over a month while the rest of the world kept moving. We lost a few crew members due to them having to move after the storm, so these T shirts really made them feel special!\r\n\r\nWe wear them with pride around school, and when other students or teachers ask about them we get to explain the generous contribution from Carters and OshKosh on Donors Choose. Students like to say they were \"sponsored\" and feel heard and seen during a difficult school year, so thank you! As a first time mom to a 1 year old, I loved that these were the companies that donated as I definitely give them priority when thinking about buying clothes for him. Again, thank you so much for your donation.","fullyFundedDate":1734703727107,"projectUrl":"project/we-are-all-crew/8993867/","projectTitle":"We Are All Crew","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gillis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3614188_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1463589377212","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3614188"},{"teacherId":9613438,"projectId":8527867,"letterContent":"I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to my classroom this year. \r\n\r\nHurricane Helene wrench in the wheel, but because of the resources I was able to buy with your donations, I'm continuing to see growth from the students.\r\n\r\nWhen students enter the room, they are greeted with a cool, fun, and calm looking space because of the lights because of the lights and essential oil diffuser. This has helped to get kids to buy in right from the start. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, we've been using technology to meet students where they are, and I'm seeing massive growth from many of them.
